Exploration into unknown fields: Alternate Dimensions, Time Travel, and the Subconcious

At first, I wanted to explore Alternate Dimensions, such as may be contained within the infinite-universe theory or within black holes and the like. However, I encountered a major problem which is that in whatever dimension I was able to send my apparatus, it would not exist as itself within the new dimension. Supposing it somehow returned, it would have no new information because in the alternate dimension it would not be itself, and also because though the object continues to exist, it is on a different plane, resulting in its inexistence on our plane while it was on the other, and then it blinking back in, exactly as it had been last in our dimension.
I also briefly considered time travel, but I read recently somewhere or heard on NPR that time travel is actually closer than previously thought (albeit only back in time not forward because of time paradoxes and time stream issues), and that time travel exists in miniscule amounts undetecable by humans on a daily basis (which is why people who excersize regularly are actually in better shape and look healtheir and younger- they actually ARE younger because thye experience time differently as they move faster than a sedentary person).
So, instead I think I would like to delve into the subconcious. But, I think there are many issues brought up as well. Is it purely observational, or can one interact with the subconsious? Is it available only to its owner? May it only be accessed while in sleep or a sleep-like state? To adress these issues:
I would have my device manipulate the Electromagnetic fields the brain acitivates on (basically brain waves). This is nto a new idea. It has been explored in Science-Fiction novels such as "The Day After Tomorrow" (also published under the name The Seventh Column or somethign similar), in which new electromagnetic forces were manipulated for military uses, and also people use this to explain Psychics and people with supposed extraordinary mind abilities. If these fields were able to be manipulated, they could be made tangible, or used for communication (such as radio waves). This would point towards one being able to speak with a subconcious or to at least view the subconcious. I would like the subconcious machine to be interactive, so that people may use it for good. For instance, it would be much mroe direct than dreams. Truly, it would bring about ugly human truths, but also it would help people that were able to accept their entire selves. Also it would help psychologists. if one is not able to view it / hear it while awake, this is semi-pointless. However, the manipulation fo the fields and accessing of the subconcious may automatially knock out a person. If humans were meant to be able to access their own subconious, it wouldn't be, by definition, a sub concious. So ultimately, it would merge the concious with the subconcious. This might possibly drive soemone insane, or unlock talents they previously did not have. Moral issues are prevalent here, such as the military or government accessing this technology, and if the technology becomes public, it is a serious violation of privacy. However, if not abused it could be used for medical practice. I do nto know how it would be powered. Presumably with electricity, like other machinery. When you think about how little of the entire electromagnetic spectrum we have access to, it doesn't seem all that far-fetched. I would call it "ACCESS" because it accesses the subconcious, and the name is simple and marketable.
